Artist’s Statement

Considering how realistic my paintings appear, it may surprise the viewer to learn that I tend to think of my work as a “Stringing Together of Abstractions.” Some of that viewpoint may come from my Zen-like approach to the way I paint. I am constantly aware of the intriguing play that resonates in the yen and yang of the positive and negative spaces in the myriad of tiny abstract compositions that comprise the whole.

My greatest joy emerges from carefully assembling each and every one of these small abstract elements together into an image of overall beauty that prompts viewers to want to immerse themselves into its completed puzzle of realistic illusion.
